A lifelong journalist and gardener, I’m passionate about connecting people to nature. I started my career in fast-paced newsrooms as a tabloid reporter and producer before transitioning to focus on gardens and the environment. Along the way, I studied landscape design at The New York Botanical Garden and worked in nurseries in New York and Seattle.
Today, my work appears in national publications like Better Homes and Gardens and Horticulture, professional publications for the green industry and write garden and wellness columns for four Washington state newspapers.
My features and columns have earned four silver and three gold medals from Garden Communicators International, where I also serve as Western Director. These awards, judged by industry peers, recognize excellence in garden writing.
I’m also a content consultant for Pacific Horticulture and serve on the board of the Northwest Horticultural Society. In 2024, I became a Master Composter/Sustainability Steward in Seattle.
When I’m not writing, speaking, or gardening, you’ll probably find me hiking with my tree-climbing dog.
Writing about gardens, lifestyle and travel for media outlets nationwide
I've enjoyed speaking at The Northwest Flower and Garden Show, to the National Wildlife Federation, and others. I'm available to speak online or in person.

What a joy to be included with other passionate gardeners in this fabulous book by Mary-Kate Mackey and Kathleen Brenzel!
I'm also honored to be a regular garden commentator for Axios Seattle's news site.
I helped produced the final two installments of Pacific Horticulture's video series on the Climate-Ready Plants Trial - what a cool project!
